Q: How can I display my talents on your Blog?

A: For example, if you are a clothing designer you can either write an article related to your clothing line and submit it to us with a few images, OR feel free to send us a few samples that you would like the ladies of Urban Frugal Chic to be photographed in as well as an article related to your clothing. You will receive the pictures for your portfolio, as well as advertisement on our site. Music, products, clothes, etc. will all be moderated before we will post your content. Q: Cynthia how did you come up with this?

A: All my friends and family if you asked them to describe me would tell you that I am the cheapest person in the world, and I would constantly tell them I am not cheap, I am frugal…and I am! I don’t hang out in malls where I will be tempted to spend all kinds of money (especially at times when I don’t have it) and if I do shop for something the chances are I bought it on line, and if I purchased it, I would probably try to figure out a way to fix it before I would replace it. Naysayers say to me all the time well you are cheap, but not too cheap, look at your clothes! Little do they know, what I am wearing was something I bought online, in a catalog or at a discount store.

Which is how UrbanFrugualChic, came along, we are trying to make frugal living something young hip, sexy and fun! We know it is going to be a hard task, listen to music today, it is all about the BLING BLING, or TV Shows like Laguna Beach, or Bravo’s Real Housewives…every body is trying to live like these people and trying to keep with the Jones, purchase Sex in the City Style 600 dollar Jimmy Choos, etc. Do your self a favor and study people like Warren Buffet, or read the book The Millionaire Next Door by Thomas J. Stanley. MOST MILLIONAIRES ARE FRUGAL!

Q: How did you and Khristal meet?

A: We actually met 5 years ago at a photo shoot modeling job we were booked for. We hit it off and have been friends every since.

Q: Love the site, but I still don’t know how you got your car or your first home Cynthia??

A: I did 3 things:

1. I started saving my money with INGDirect.com, which is a online bank. Any extra money I had, I would put it in this bank. It connects to your normal bank account, but it pays higher interest than a normal bank. The key here is to do an automatic savings plan…start small, $5 or $10 a month. If you are interested in INGDirect, email us with INGDIRECT in the subject line and I will send you a referral that will give you free 10.00 for opening an account with them.
2. Once I accumulated $3,000 I opened up a Roth IRA, and purchased INDEX Funds. Index Funds allow you to invest in the whole entire stock market. I am not a financial advisor, but do your research on Roth IRAs. You are allowed to take out 10,000 tax free to use for the purchase of your first home. Check out sites like Fidelity or vanguard.com. I did mine with vanguard. So I did it just like, that I took out the 10,000 to use towards my down payment!
3. I lived frugally eating at home, bringing my lunch everyday, etc, basically living the Urban Frugal Chic lifestyle (read our press release here) Paying down my credit cards, and bills along the way making sure my credit report was worthy of approval.
