One of my favorite shows on Television is Style Network’s Clean House hosted by the fabulous Niecy Nash. The people on that show are extreme cases, but if you have a busy schedule like me, your house cleaning can start to pile up. Even worst is when your friends or family out the blue call and tell you they are in your neighbor hood and want to stop by…over the years I have discovered some fast clean up tricks that will have your house looking clean in minutes!
1. Use Wet Cleansing Cloths or Lemon Juice
Add a few drops of lemon juice to a wet paper towel and wipe down your bathroom and kitchen counters. Lemon juice is a proven antibacterial, and studies show that the aroma of lemon sends a clean signal. Making folks think a room is cleaner then it is. (BUT DON”T USE IT ON GRANITE or MARBLE COUNTER TOPS) Close your shower curtain, wipe down your faucets and toilet seats. I keep a Febreze Plug In Air Freshner
, under the cabinet and plug it in JUST for Company. They last me for months.
2. Use a Lint Roller
Take a Lint Roller, 56-Count Roll (Pack of 12)
and Go over your couches, Living Room Rubs and Bathroom Rubs. If you have pets you may even want to flip your cushions over. If you have throw pillows, turn them the cleanest side up and fluff. I had a good friend that was a real estate agent and she told me that plumped up pillows make a room look cleaner and fresher. Finish it off with some Febreze Fabric Refresher, Antimicrobial,(Pack of 6)
spray couches, rugs, curtains, bathroom towels, turn on your ceiling fan or open up a window so it can be absorbed quickly.
3.Take a Pillow Case or Recyclable Grocery Bag and De-clutter
Clutter can make a clean house look dirty. Do a quick pick me up stick everything in bags and put it where guests won’t look. You can be creative and stick clothes in a dryer or suit case too. Remember, this is a quick clean up, you can organize everything later. Parents, Please Hide some of the Toys you may have scattered.
4. Nylons are the Secret to Dust
Put nylons on your hands and wipe away any lint or dust. Nylon naturally attracts dust and lint though static electricity, so it picks up dust like a a magnet QUICK. Focus on things guest will see like the TV, Furniture, and Dust Bunnies on the floor.
5.Put Dishes in the Dish Washer
You don’t have to load them in neatly or even turn them on. Just use it as a quick hiding place. If you don’t have a dishwasher, or it is already full just put everything in a dish rack then hide it in a cabinet and close the door.
